Barrington Coat of Arms / Family Crest

(Cullinagh, Queen’s County, descended from John, younger brother of Sir Francis Barrington, first baronet of Essex. Of this family was the late Sir Jonah Barrington, formerly Judge of the Court of Admiralty in Ireland). Arms, &c., same as Barrington, of Barrington Hall.

(Viscount Barrington). Ar. three chevronels gu. a label of as many points az. Crest—A hermit’s bust in profile vested and having on the head a cowl paly ar. and gu. Supporters—Two griffins their wings elevated or, each gorged with a label of three points az. Motto—Honesta quam splendida.

(granted to John Barrington, Esq., of Glencar, co. Dublin, Lord Mayor of Dublin, 1865, afterwards Sir John Barrington, Knt.). Ar. three chevronels gu. in base a civic crown ppr. on a chief of the second a castle of the first flammant (being one of the castles in the Arms of the city of Dublin). Crest—A mural crown ppr. out of which a hermit’s bust in profile vested paly ar. and gu. and having on the head a cowl also paly ar. and gu. Motto—Honesta quam splendida.

(City of Limerick, bart.). Ar. three chevronels gu. a label of three points vert a canton of the same charged with a trefoil or. Crest—Out of a crown vallery or, a hermit’s bust with a cowl vested paly ar. and gu. Motto—Ung durant ma vie.

(Leix, Queen’s Co.). Ar. three chevronels gu. in chief a label of three points az. Crest—A hermit’s head couped below the shoulders ppr. vested paly of six gu. and or, the cowl thrown back.

Limerick – (Baronet, 30 sept. 1831) – D’argent à trois chevrons de gueules surmontés d’un lambel de sinople au canton du même ch d’un trèfle d’or Cimier un buste de capucin coiffé d’un capuchon de gueules habillé d’un palé d’argent et de gueules et issant d’une couronne vallaire d’or Devise UNG DURANT MA VIE
