(Baron Clavering, Robert Fitz Roger, son of Roger Fitz John feudal Baron of Warkworth and, Clavering, assumed by the King’s direction (Edward II.) the name of Clavering at the siege of Kaerlaverock, and was summoned to Parliament 1295-1311. Barony passed to his dau. Eve, who m. 1st, Ralph Ufford, 2nd Thomas de Audley, and 3rd, Robert Benhalt). Quarterly, or and gu. over all a bend sa.

(Axwell Park, co. Durham, hart.; also of Whitehouse and Greencroft, in the same county; descended from Sir Alan Clavering, younger son of Robert Fitz Roger Clavering, Baron Clavering). Quarterly, or and gu. a bend sa. Crest—Out of a ducal coronet or, a demi lion ramp. az. (sometimes sa.).

(Essex). Same Arms, the bend charged with three mullets ar.

(Callaly Castle, co. Northumberland). Same Arms as Baron Clavering. Crest—A cherub’s head with wings erect. Motto—Ad coelos volans.
