(Cork, Cloghane, Rincolisky, Ballyverine Castle (now Copinger’s Court), Lissapoole, Carhue, Leemount, &c., co. Cork; Roscoff, in Brittany, Trewiddle, Cornwall, and the Priory, Manchester; a family traceable to a very early period in the annals of that county. Stephen Copinger was M.P. for the city of Cork in the first Parliament of Queen Elizabeth. Three of his great-grandsons were knighted, viz., Sir Walter Copinger, of Cloghan.
