Bonfiglio.

This ancient family, which is believed to originate in Germany, enjoyed nobility in Catania, Caltagirone, Messina, Palermo and Lentini. A Roberto de Bonisfiliis from Catania, soldier, physicist and royal treasurer was granted the water gabelle of Lentini on 13 June 1376; a Niccolò, for his wife Anfilisia Reggio, owned the fiefdom of Carmito, as by investiture of 2 May 1418, a fief that, upon the abolition of feudalism, we find with the title of Baron in power of Francesco Bonfiglio and Longo, as by investiture of December 23, 1790; in which title of Baron we see today recognized Mr. Mario Bonfiglio, of Francesco. A Gerardo, from Messina, was captain of Polizzi 1403; a Filippo was baron of Callari in 1421; a John had granted by King Alfonso, with privilege given on 25 September 1423 enforced on 30 June 1425, the fief and hamlet of Trisina and Cundrò or Fundrò (and in 1436 it owned the Sicaminò salt pan), as a fief of Condrò, with a privilege given on 17 April executed on 21 August 1630 it was raised in principality in the person of Francesco Bonfiglio. A Pietro, for his wife Lucrezia Giordano, possessed the right of the roll of the meat of Messina, as per investiture of 8 November 1476. A Francesco Bonfiglio and Santacolomba, prince of Condrò, with privilege given on 15 March executed on 25 September 1677, he was decorated with the title of Marquis of Leonvago. A Gerardo was captain of Caltagirone in the year 1400-401; a Nicolò senator of Messina in the year 1413-14, 1418-19-20-21-22-23; a Philip held the same position in the years 1422-23, 1427-28 and 1434-35; a Pietro in 1432-33, 1442-43 and 1444-45; a Giovanni, of the late Gerardo was noble consul of the Sea in that city in the year 1441; a Giovanni Antonio senator in the year 1528-29; a Francesco in 1545-46, a Giuseppe Maria baron of Callari was proconservator of Messina on November 3, 1592 and one of the founders of the military order of the Star; a Tommaso Maria baron of Callari was prince of that order in the years 1611 and 1624 and senator of Messina in the years 1612-13, 1620-21, 1629-30, and 1633-34 and died in office; a Paul, baron of Condrò, was among the founders of the said order of the Star; a Paolo Bonfiglio and Moncada prince of Condrò, by privilege given on February 17, executed on July 6, 1677, was a rational master of swashbuckling supernumerary of the Real Patrimonio Tribunal; an Antonio was captain of Lentini in the year 1782-83, a noble juror of that city in the year 1790-91 and again captain of execution in the year 1802-3; a Francesco Bonfiglio and Vitale was sworn noble of that city in the year 1787-88 and a Francesco Bonfiglio and Longo baron del Carmito was captain of that city in the years 1786-87 and 1790-91.
