The representation of the family of Charnocke, of Charnocke, eventually vested in Susanna, dau. and sole surviving heiress of Peter Brooke, Esq., of Astley, co. Lancaster, who was great-grandson of Richard Brooke (second son of Sir Richard Brooke, Knt., of Mere) by Margaret, his wife, dau. and heiress of Robert Charnocke, Esq., of Charnocke and Astley; Susanna, the heiress of Brooke and Charnocke, m. 1st, Thomas Townley Parker, Esq., of Cuerden, and 2ndly, Sir Henry Philip Hoghton, Bart., of Hoghton Tower). Ar. on a bend sa. three crosses crosslet of the first. Crest—A lapwing ppr. Motto—Soyez content.

(Hulcot, co. Bedford, descended from the ancient family of Charnocke, of Charnocke; Sir John Charnock of Hulcot, was created a baronet in 1661; Charlotte Hervey, grandneice and heiress of Sir Villiers Chernocke, the last baronet m. the Rev. Edward Orlebar Smith). Same Arms and Crest.
