(Ayton, co. Berwick). Gu. a dagger paleways ppr. point upwards, betw. three bears’ heads couped or, muzzled of the first. Crest—A camel’s head couped at the neck ppr. Motto—Persevere.

Quarterly, 1st and 4th, az. three bears’ heads ar. muzzled gu., for Fordyce; 2nd, az. a buck’s head cabossed or, betw. three mullets pierced ar., for Dingwall; 3rd, gu. a fess chequy ar. and az. in chief a mullet of the second, the base wavy of the third, a bordure engr. or, for Lindsay. Crests—1st: An eagle volant ppr. holding in the claws an escroll with this Motto—Altius ibunt qui ad summa nituntur, for Fordyce; 2nd: A stag lodged ppr. with Motto—In arduis fortis, for Dingwall.
