He founded a chantry in St. James’ Church, Poole, where, over the north aisle, is the inscription, “These six arches were made at the charge of James Havelland and Hellene his wife, on whose souls God have mercy, Amen, 1512.” His grandson, John, son of William and Frances, m. Mary, dan. and co-heir of John Carew, of Hamworthy, M.P., 1541, for Poole. Arms from the brass of the founder of the Havelland aisle). Ar three castles sa. portcullised gu. quartering Carew.
