(Hebborne, co. Northumberland). Ar. three uncovered cups (sometimes described as lamps) sa. in each a flame of fire ppr. The origin ot these arms appears to have been this: the summit of Ros Hill, which immediately overlooks the little Peel of Hebborne, was the station of the chief Deacon for the East and West Marches. The flaming lamp is, therefore, the blazing crescent of a border beacon.
