This canton was granted as an augmentation to Sir David Kirke, Governor of Newfoundland; to Lewis Kirke, Governor of Canada; and to Captain Thomas Kirke, Vice-Admiral of the English Fleet, for their victory over the French, and the capturing of Canada. Crest—A dexter arm embowed in armour ppr. garnished or, holding a cutlass ar. hilt and pommel gold.
