Blazon description

(Ystington, Haroldston, and Carew Castle, co. Pembroke, a very ancient family of Norman origin; the name appears on Hollingsbed’s Roll of Battel Abbey. Sir Stephen Perrott, temp. Henry I., m. Helen, dau. of Marchion-ap-Rice, Prince of South Wales, and obtained with her the Lordship of Ystington: their descendant, Peter Perrott, temp. Edward III., m. Alice, dan. and heir of Sir Richard Harold, Knt., of Haroldston, same co.: seventh in descent from this marriage was Sir John Perrott, K.B., appointed by Queen Elizabeth Governor and Keeper of Carew Castle, co. Pembroke, Lord Deputy of Ireland 1583-88. Immediately on his appointment as Lord Deputy he made a Deed of Settlement entailing his estates on his sons and their male descendants, and in default of such, on his cousin, Thomas Perrott, of Broke, co. Carmarthen. He d. 1599: his only legitimate son, Sir Thomas Perrott, Knt., of Haroldston, m. 1583, Lady Dorothy Devereux, dau. of Walter, first Earl of Essex, and sister of Robert, second Earl of Essex, the favourite of Queen Elizabeth, and by her (who m. secondly, Henry, ninth Earl of Northumberland) he had a dau. and heir, Penelope Perrott, m. first, William Lower, Esq., and secondly, Sir Robert Naunton, Secretary of State to James I., author of “ Fragmenta Regalia,’’ who d. 1635). Gu. three pears or, on a chief ar. a demi lion issuant sa. armed and langued of the field. Crest—A parrot vert holding in the dexter claw a pear or, leaved ppr. Supporters—Dexter, an Ancient Briton armed and blazoned ppr.; sinister, a dragon gu. Motto—Amo ut invenio.

(Haroldston, co. Pembroke, formerly of Morton-on-Lug, co. Hereford; Sir Herbert Perrott, Knt., son and heir of Robert Perrott, Esq., of Morton, and grandson of Richard Perrott, of same place, who was son of Thomas Perrott, Esq., of Broke, eventually s. to the estates of the Lord Deputy Perrott: his only dau. and heiress, Hester Perrott, m. Sir John Pakington, fourth bart. of Ailesbury, co. Bucks, ancestor of Sir John Somerset Pakington, created 1874 Lord Hampton). Same Arms, Crest, and Motto.

(Coolfinn, Queen’s co.; Robert Pehrott, descended from the foregoing, obtained grants of land at Coolfinn, and at Loughboy, Welland Park, &c., in co. Kilkenny, under the Act of Settlement, temp. Charles II.; his dau. Anne Perrott, co-heir of her brother, Richard Perrott, Esq., of Dartmouth, co. Devon, m., 1680, John Glascott, Esq., of Aldertown, co. Wexford, whose son. George Glascott, Esq., of Aldertown, d. 1755, inherited the Perrott estates, co. Kilkenny, and bequeathed them to his second son, George Glascott, Esq., d. 1788; his son, John Glascott, Esq., of Killowen, d. 1841, was grandfather of John H. Glascott, Esq., J.P., co. Wexford. Humphrey Perrott, of Wollaston, admitted a student of the Inner Temple, 1582, purchased the estate in Belbroughton; John Perrott, Esq., of Bell Hall, High Sheriff, co.
