Ar. three doves az. Crest—A dove with an olive branch in the beak all ppr.

(Greenbank, Liverpool; a family which, for a a series of years, has been at the head of the mercantile body of that town; William Rathbone, Esq., of Liverpool and Greenbank, d. II Feb. 1809, leaving, by Hannah Mary bis wife, only dau. of Richard Reynolds, Esq., three surviving sons, William Rathbone, Esq., of Greenbank, co. Lancaster; Richard Rathbone, Esq., of Woodcroft, and Theodore Woolman Rathbone, Esq., of Allerton Priory, near Liverpool). Erm. on a fess az. betw. two roses in chief gu. barbed and seeded ppr. and the Roman fasces erect in base ppr. three bezants. Crest—The Roman fasces fessways in front of a lion’s head ppr. gorged with a collar ar. charged with two roses gu. Motto—Suaviter et fortiter.
